On Tuesday, August 21st our August OFRC general meeting will be an all-day field trip to the Gap Project Area. We will be meeting at the Ochoco National Forest Headquarters in the front parking lot at 9 am for a 9:10 departure to the Gap project. We plan to be back by 4 pm.
Our objectives for the day include learning more about the Gap project, specifically looking at the Forest Service’s approach to dry forest restoration work in Gap and how it is similar to/different from our recommendations.
The Forest Service will also share information on the economics of the Gap project area–a topic we continue to learn more about. This will include a discussion of how small diameter wood impacts the value of this sale and how haul distances and issues related to roads have an impact as well.
**Please come prepared to spend a full day in the field. Dress appropriately for the weather and bring boots or hiking shoes, hard hat (if you have one), food and water for the day. We also suggest mosquito repellent and sunscreen.
