
Prineville, Ore., October 17, 2023 — The Ochoco National Forest will begin accepting applications for permanent seasonal Forestry Aids and Technicians between October 19 and November 22. Hundreds of entry-level permanent seasonal positions are available in locations across the nation, including 436 positions opening in Washington and Oregon, with 22 positions available on the Ochoco National Forest.
Forestry Aids and Technicians work in a variety of natural resource and recreation areas, and the Ochoco National Forest will be hiring for positions including but not limited to fisheries/watershed, archaeology, timber, botany, range, wildlife, recreation, and more. These positions are ideal for individuals who are looking for entry level positions and are dedicated, hardworking, and committed to enhancing visitor experiences and preserving the nation’s forests.
- Forestry Aid GS-0462-03/04/05 positions with full performance level to the GS-05
- Forestry Technician GS-0462-05 positions with full performance level to the GS-07
Permanent seasonal employment is a great way to begin a lifelong career with the Forest Service. In addition to a permanent position at a Forest, permanent seasonal employees are eligible for health care and retirement benefits. These positions offer a 13/13 schedule, which means employees work 13 pay periods (six months) and have the remaining 13 pay periods off every year. As career positions, appointments may be increased to 18/8 (18 pay periods working with eight pay periods off) or a full 26 pay periods of work dependent upon unit needs and funding.
This hiring event is separate from the annual temporary seasonal hiring event, which opens on USAjobs on October 26th.
