Join us on Tuesday, July 20th at 7:30 am for a Field Trip to the Mill Creek Dry Forest Restoration Project area. During the field tour, we will discuss:
- Comparing our dry forest recommendations with the recent revision of the wildlife standard in the eastside screens
- Discussing tree mortality using Andrew Merschel’s TASS data with cross-reference to the climate vulnerability assessment
- Discussing steep terrain restoration as being considered by the FS. Loren Kellogg, COFSF Board member who has been heading up the Steep Terrain Pilot Project Planning effort, plans to attend, schedule permitting.
We are planning to meet at the Ochoco National Forest office at 7.30 am for coffee and connection time and then leave for the field via carpool at 8:00 am.
Please dress for the weather and be prepared for the heat! Be sure to wear sturdy closed-toe shoes for walking through brush and over uneven ground. Please also bring any food or snacks you may need, plus plenty of water. If it’s too hot, we’ll wrap up early.
General Meetings take place every third Tuesday and events are open to all. Guests participate fully in discussions and are invited to share views. The only requirement is a healthy respect and a willingness to listen to others.
